BCCI Announces Match Fee Structure for IPL 2025
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a new match fee system for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, aimed at providing additional incentives for players. Under the new structure, each player will receive ₹7.5 lakh for every league match they participate in.This initiative is expected to benefit players who feature in all 14 league matches of the season, potentially earning them an extra ₹1.05 crore on top of their base contracts. The move comes as part of broader efforts to enhance player welfare and encourage consistent participation amid a packed cricket calendar.BCCI officials have stated that the fee applies uniformly to both Indian and overseas players, with no restrictions on the number of retentions per franchise. Franchises can retain up to six players, including options for right-to-match cards, ahead of the mega auction scheduled later this year. The announcement has been welcomed by several team owners and players, who view it as a step toward financial stability in the league. One franchise executive noted that this could help in retaining key talent, especially with rumors of high-profile moves such as Rishabh Pant potentially joining Chennai Super Kings and Rohit Sharma considering options with Gujarat Titans or Delhi Capitals. The IPL 2025 season is set to commence in March, featuring 10 teams and a total of 74 matches. Further details on the auction and team compositions are anticipated in the coming weeks.Key IPL 2025 Retention Rules:- Maximum of six retentions per team.- No cap on Indian or overseas players in retentions.- Right-to-match option available for one player. This development underscores the BCCI's commitment to evolving the IPL, which remains one of the world's premier T20 leagues.
